CTE Alternative Certification | College Supervisors
Successful mentoring requires developing a trusting and honest relationship between the College Supervisor and the CTE Candidate. This begins with the College Supervisor using effective listening skills and non-judgmental statements that lets the CTE Candidate know that he or she is supported throughout the Practicum. The Alternative Certification Program has put together a "mentoring packet", which includes excellent strategies for providing the CTE Candidate with effective mentoring and feedback, and several videos that demonstrate what these strategies look like in field. Please take a few minutes to review the mentoring packet, watch the videos, and print out the one-page mentoring reference handout to get you ready to make the CTE Candidate's experience in the Practicum a great experience!
