Examples of personal statements from students seeking Field Experience:
As an employee of Molokai High School, I thought it would be a good fit for me to observe a
teacher/classroom on campus. This is my home community and I am familiar with the teachers and the students. I would like to get a feel for a Special Education classroom because I am very much leaning toward Special Education as a degree option. With that said, I would love the opportunity to observe and volunteer in the school wherever and whenever you feel would be appropriate.

I chose James Campbell High School because I am from the community. Many of my family members are alumni of Campbell. As a graduate of Mililani High, I want to be able to step out of my familiarity in that community and return to my roots. I think I need to see a variety school settings as I begin to think about my future in teaching. James Campbell High School’s mission is to prepare young adults for the challenging changes in society. I am excited to see these values in their classrooms. I am also excited to see the valuable AVID strategies that are being used in the class. i have learned a lot about them and I would like to be able to learn from the classroom and apply it into my future teaching career.

I chose this school because I am an alumnus. I feel that this school has given me an incredible push to succeed in my academic pursuit. I continue to work towards becoming a better and more successful student now (and, teacher in the future).I wanted to communicate that I am very interested in teaching elementary level students (specifically, Early Childhood or K-3rd grade). I was thinking that this school could be an amazing place to learn, and in the process I could give back to my community and the people who gave to me. This school has made a positive impact on my life. I respect that greatly.
